Last updated: August 1, 2026

Chatonaut is a platform that other businesses build chatbots on. If one of those bots is breaking the law or harming you, tell us. This page explains what to send, what we do with it, and how long we take.

1. What to report

Report anything on this list. If you are not sure it belongs here, send it anyway and let us decide.

  • Spam and unwanted messages — a bot messaging people who never agreed to hear from it.
  • Scams, phishing and impersonation — a bot pretending to be a bank, a delivery service, a government body or someone else, or collecting passwords and card numbers.
  • Anything involving a child — child sexual abuse material, grooming, or sexualised content about minors. This is banned outright and we act the same day.
  • Illegal content — terrorism, incitement to violence, weapons, drugs.
  • Copyright or trademark infringement — a bot using work or a brand that belongs to you.
  • Harassment, threats and defamation — messages aimed at a person rather than at customers.
  • Leaked personal data — someone's personal information published or sent around without their consent.
  • Attacks on the service — fraud, abuse of our API, attempts to break in.

The rules these break are set out in section 5 of our Terms of Service.

2. How to report it

Email support@chatonaut.com with Abuse and the category in the subject line — for example, Abuse — phishing. Tell us:

  • Who you are and how to reach you. We accept anonymous reports, but we may not be able to come back to you for the detail that decides the case.
  • What happened, in your own words.
  • Where it happened — the name or handle of the bot, a link to the conversation, and the date and time with your time zone.
  • Evidence — screenshots, links, message history. Send what you have; we would rather have too much than too little.
  • A line confirming that what you have told us is accurate to the best of your knowledge.

You can also report the bot to the platform it runs on — Instagram or Telegram — at the same time. The two routes do not cancel each other out, and the platform can act on things we cannot.

3. What happens next

  1. We confirm we have your report within one business day.
  2. We reach a decision within three business days for most reports, and within 24 hours for child safety, phishing and impersonation.
  3. Depending on what we find, we warn the customer, switch the bot off, remove the content, or close the account and delete its data. Where the law requires it, we report the case to the authorities.
  4. We tell you what we did. We do not hand over the personal data of the person you reported.

4. Copyright and trademark

If a bot is using something that belongs to you, send us four things: what the work or mark is, proof that you own it or act for the owner, where on the platform it appears, and a line confirming you believe the use is not authorised.

Once the notice is complete, we remove the material within one business day.

5. If we got it wrong

If we removed your content or suspended your account by mistake, write to support@chatonaut.com and tell us:

  • what was removed or blocked;
  • why you are entitled to use it — your own work, a licence, the owner's permission.

We look again within five business days and either put it back or explain why it stays down.

6. Emergencies and requests from authorities

If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. We cannot send help, and minutes matter more than a report to us.

Law enforcement and regulators should write from an official address to support@chatonaut.com, stating the legal basis for the request. We answer as the law requires of us.

7. Who receives your report

Chatonaut is operated by Individual Entrepreneur Dmitrii Yuryevich Kiselev, a sole proprietor registered in Russia. That is who reads abuse reports and acts on them:
